I found a link to the original student editorial on rape, entitled "Rape Only Hurts If You Fight Back", because I wanted to see if it qualified as satire, as the author is claiming now that he has induced a national outcry. Its on page 7, if you're interested in seeing it for yourself:

And behind the cut, this is the statement that the guy says he was trying to make:

Student editors at the paper said the article was meant to be a satirical jab at the sensationalistic nature of the modern news media.

Did you find the message? He tucked it at the end, where it would be easy to find. You know, a twist ending. You always want twist endings in journalism.

Here's a news story on it from the Hartford Courant (from which the quote is taken):

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm being sarcastic.

I suppose it qualifies as bad satire, maybe.

Yeah I read that. I can tell he was trying for satire - but the thing about satire is that it's like poetry. Not a skill easily acquired. That's why there are specific kinds of writers - Poets, Satirists, Playwrights, etc.

I did get very annoyed at some of the Feminazi blogs that went all "WHITE MALES OPPRESS US" on it.

The guy's a hack with no satire skill. Leave it at that.
