(no subject)

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. I'm back from Long Island, where the fire department, which my grandfather was a member of for 53 years, gave him one hell of a send-off. I have never in my life seen anything like it. The Army also did the ceremonial folding of the flag at the cemetary, and the American Legion read a eulogy at the wake but, daaaaaamn, I am thinking of joining a volunteer fire department now just so I get some nifty stuff done when I die. (Then again, they may not do all that for just anyone.) I may post about it later, but unfortunately, I have caught a nasty cold and must make myself some chicken soup and put myself to bed.
